How does the Dronspot liquid work?

Worms that occur internally in cats can be harmful to your cat's health. Fortunately, there is now Dronspot Cat, a very effective and cat-friendly remedy for the treatment of roundworms, tapeworms and hookworms in your cat.

This wormer kills the intestinal worms present after a single administration. It works via a so-called spot-on administration, in which liquid is applied to the skin in the neck and absorbed through the skin into the body. A quick and easy solution to deworm cats, especially useful in cats that are difficult to deworm with a tablet.

Dronspot Cat can be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Which Dronspot product do I need for my cat?

The dose of Dronspot depends on the body weight of your cat. Since the weight can vary widely, we offer:

Dronspot Small Cat for smaller cats of 0.5-2.5 kg
Dronspot Medium Cat for cats from 2.5-5 kg
Dronspot Large Cat for the larger specimens of 5-8 kg

If you still want to deworm your cat with tablets, then there are Drontal Cat tablets.
Dogs can be wormed with Drontal Dog tablets.

Why do I need Dronspot for my cat?

Worming is of great importance to keep your cat, yourself and your family healthy. It is important to deworm your cat regularly. Worms can make your cat and especially your kitten seriously ill, you don't want this to happen.

Depending on the kind of worm, worms make a tour through the animal's body and can damage organs such as the lungs, liver, and intestines, possibly leading to obstruction, diarrhea, or vomiting. Worms also have an adverse effect on the animals' resistance, which will cause inflammation and lower the effect of a vaccination. Of course you want to protect your cat against all kinds of parasitic infections, but keeping your animals free of worms is also better for the health of all the other members of the household.

It is wise to deworm all adult cats up to 4 times a year depending on the risk of infection.

Spot-On Pipette

Indication

Dronspot Cat against internal roundworm and tapeworm infections in kittens and adult cats. Unlike most worm tablets, the effect of Dronspot has been registered not only against adult worms but also against immature and larval stages in most worms:

Roundworms (Nematodes): Toxocara cati and Toxascaris leonina
Hookworms: Ancylostoma tubaforme
Tapeworms (Cestodes): Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp. (T. pisiformis, T. hydatigena, T. ovis, T. multiceps, T. serialis, T. taeniaeformis), Echinococcus multilocularis.

Note: Dronspot Cat does NOT protect your cat against heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis), an infection that is transmitted by stinging mosquitoes. So if you are traveling with your cat in heartworm areas, such as Southern and Eastern Europe, make sure heartworm disease prevention is indicated and choose the right medication.

Contra indication

Dronspot Cat should not be used in cats younger than 8 weeks or with a body weight less than 0.5 kg
Sick or debilitated animals
Not suitable for oral use

Dosage

Consult the full package insert and packaging of the product before use.
Weigh your cat carefully before treatment.
The recommended minimum doses are 3 mg Emodepside per kg body weight and 12 mg Praziquantel per kg body weight, equivalent to 0.14 ml Dronspot per kg body weight.

How to use the Dronspot pipette?

Take an appropriate pipette out of the package.
Hold the pipette upright and unscrew the cap. Then use the inverted cap to break the seal.
Part the hair on the cat's neck, at the base of the skull, until the skin is visible.
Place the open side of the pipette in this position just above the skin and now squeeze the pipette firmly several times to apply the content directly to the skin.

Dronspot Cat can be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Deworm your cat at least four times a year.

Composition

Active ingredients:
Dronspot contains 2 active ingredients, which penetrate through the skin after administration and are absorbed into the cat's body.
The active substance Praziquantel works against all tapeworms and Emodepside works against all roundworms.

Dronspot Small Cat (0.35 ml) contains 30 mg Praziquantel and 7.5 mg Emodepside
Dronspot Medium Cat (0.70 ml) contains 60 mg Praziquantel and 15 mg Emodepside
Dronspot Large Cat (1.12 ml) contains 96 mg Praziquantel and 24 mg Emodepside

Side effects

Side effects, such as salivation, vomiting and trembling, are only to be expected with severe overdose or licking at the application site.

These symptoms are reversible and require no treatment. There is no specific antidote (antidote).

Warnings

Choose the application site in the neck at the base of the skull so that your cat is unlikely to lick it off.
Avoid direct contact after application of the pipette to the still moist application site.
Keep children and other animals away from treated animals for as long. In addition, avoid prolonged intensive contact (for example, by sleeping) with treated cats for the first 24 hours after administration of the product.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes and wash your hands after use.

If your cat is already on medication, contact the treating vet before using Dronspot.
